Medicals and Assessments
A number of our General Practitioners are Australian Designated Aviation Medical Examiners (DAME) and can issue aviation medical certificates. All pilots, air traffic controllers and aviation staff must be in good health and are required to obtain an aviation medical certificate which is specific to their role.
Many of our General Practitioners are qualified and can offer the two types of diving medicals – Recreational or Commercial. These medicals are quite extensive and generally take about 45mins. The medical begins with a medical questionnaire followed by a hearing and eyesight test, urine test, lung function test, blood pressure check and height and weight measurements. Patients will then also need to have a chest x-ray.
Driver’s licence medicals
DoctorLink practitioners are qualified to assess a patients fitness to drive. Driving ability requires perception, good judgement, responsiveness and physical capability and this ability can be impaired by a range of medical conditions such as blackouts, vision issues, epilepsy, seizures and heart disease. Once the assessment is complete you maybe granted a conditional license where you will only be allowed to drive under certain conditions eg. daylight hours, wearing glasses.
Many companies require perspective employees to attend a pre-employment medical prior to starting work to ensure there are no factors that may limit their ability to safely perform their job and avoid injury. At DoctorLink we are able to work with companies and businesses to build a package to provide a baseline health assessment for employees.
